Welcome to a Secret Subject Swap. This week 11 brave bloggers picked a secret subject for someone else and were assigned a secret subject to interpret in their own style. Today we are all simultaneously divulging our topics and submitting our posts.
My “Secret Subject” is:
Would you visit the World Chicken Festival?
It was submitted by: http://notthatsarahmichelle.blogspot.com
I read this and I had to laugh. Would I visit the World Chicken Festival? Well, yes, I would and actually have many times. You see, I live in South Carolina now, but I was born and raised in Kentucky where the festival is held every year. I grew up in northern Kentucky but I have family that lives in London the birthplace of Colonel Sanders.
Back in the 90’s when my husband and I first got married we went to it a couple years in a row and then later when my kids were little we took them to it two or three times. If you live in Kentucky you have heard of the World Chicken Festival held in the place where it all began. My mom used to love going every year with her sister.
It was always a fun event where you could find all kinds of crafts and homemade goods, eggs-hibits as they like to call them. Of course, it’s famous for for having the world’s largest skillet. I read that they use some 300 gallons of cooking oil! No wonder just about everyone there has high blood pressure or heart problems. They fry something like 600 pieces at a time! Now, that’s a lot of chicken.
One of my very first jobs as a teenager was working at KFC and I love their chicken to this day. It’s often our Friday night date with our grandchildren meal (It’s a lot easier to dine at the park with twin 2-year-olds). One day maybe I’ll take them to the World Chicken Festival or maybe we’ll just stick to the park…it’s a lot less crowded.
Have you ever heard of the World Chicken Festival?
